Central European Time is UTC+1 in winter and Central European Summer Time (CEST) at UTC+2 from late March to late October.

Europe changes its clocks on different dates from North America, which creates short windows each spring and autumn when the usual difference between, say, New York and Paris is an hour off what people expect.
